Let me first say, this was supposed to be my "no spending money month", excluding existing events and plans this month. I promised myself on July 13 that until August 13, I would not spend a penny on anything I did not need. I was going to make do with what I had! A great idea in my head but not entirely practical, I will admit.
So today a few friends and I had plans to go to Momofuku and take advantage of the summerlicious deal going on in Toronto right now! I decided to head downtown early and park myself in a Starbucks and work on my blog posts! On my way downtown I convinced myself that I needed to go to sephora and pick up a new Anastasia brow wiz ( I ran out this morning mid brow routine ). I was to only pick up that one thing, and told myself that it was a necessity and would be allowed as a purchase in my non spending month.
Well here I am in a Starbucks after all working on an entirely different blog post than I anticipated. A makeup haul..... I walked into sephora and I don't know what came over me, some might call it a temporary lapse of sanity but as one of my fav youtubers/beauty bloggers, Amelia Liana calls it #feelingspendy.
One of the things I picked up, I was by luck in the right place at the right time. Today was the in store launch for Jaclyn Hill's champagne pop highlight collaboration with Becca! So I swatched it and after trying it on and talking with a few sales associates I decided I couldn't leave it in the store! And of course I picked one up for imnotabeautyguru! I then picked up the Urban Decay Smokey eye shadow palette. I've been lusting over this ever since I heard it was launching! I'm excited to play around with these cooler and darker colours! A good change from the warm and bronzey colours I tend to gravitate towards. I also picked up the Kat Von D Ink liner in Baudelaire. I have been debating about this for months! I love the colour but I don't wear a lot of liquid eye liner. I haven't perfected the cat eye for my eye shape and I am half convinced that a cat eye will never look good with my eye shape! #thestruggleisreal Anyways, I picked it up. I can always take advantage of Sephora's return policy. The last two things I purchased were the beauty blender cleaning solid, and the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz.
After my success in Sephora I marched on over to MAC. I figured I had already broke my non spending promise so why not pick up a few things at MAC I was wanting?? At MAC I picked up two brushes, yet another 217 and my first 224! I also grabbed a bottle of Fix+ and the brush cleanser to make my makeup brush cleaning life easier.
All in all, even though I wasn't supposed to be spending any money this month, I know I will get a lot of use out of these products and sometimes you just have to treat yourself! Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what you think of them!
